Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoferetti, who is on the ISS, posted a photo of her cosplay for “Gravity” on Twitter. In the photo, she recreated a scene from the movie in which Dr. Stone, played by Sandra Bullock, moves around the space station. As a visual reference point above the astronaut is a screen showing a similar frame from “Gravity”.
Christoferetti accompanied the photo with the following caption: “Hey, Dr. Stone! Quick question for you. How did you make your hair stay combed?”. As it is easy to see, the main difference between the film and reality is the behavior of the hair in a state of weightlessness. By the way, it is for this reason that Sandra Bullock made a short haircut “for a boy” before filming in “Gravity” — to simplify the task for special effects specialists.
After the publication of the cosplay shot, American astronaut Scott Kelly shared a story about how during his stay on the ISS in 2015 he watched “Gravity” and at that moment Samantha Cristoferetti just floated on the background of the screen. However, Kelly did not have time to take a picture, which he later greatly regretted.
One of my biggest regrets from my year in space was watching #GravityMovie and having @AstroSamantha float by the screen after her working out and not being quick enough to the camera. Here’s the original photo fail. So disappointed then, but all is good now. Thank you, Samantha! https://t.co/4Av29VmDNl pic.twitter.com/XRJA21jjCA
