A coolant leak occurred from the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft

A coolant leak occurred from the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft docked to the ISS. It has already led to the cancellation of the spacewalk scheduled for December 24.

On December 15, the ISS crew noticed that a stream of some particles was escaping from the instrument-assembly compartment of the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft. It became clear enough that its source is a leak of coolant from the aft end of the spacecraft’s thermal control system.

Currently, the MCC specialists are trying to understand the causes of the incident and the degree of its severity. Roscosmos has already announced the cancellation of the spacewalk scheduled for December 24. At the same time, it is reported that the ISS crew is not in danger.

Soyuz MS-22 was launched on September 21, 2022. It delivered cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin, as well as NASA astronaut Frank Rubio, to the station.
