AI dubbing is ready to take over the world. New Swedish sci-fi hit “Watch the Skies”

The Swedish sci-fi film “Watch the Skies” is preparing for worldwide release and has already received positive reviews from critics. The film was created by the creative art group Crazy Pictures, and Orbital Today calls it “a sincere ode to family sci-fi blockbusters of the 1980s and 1990s” with its own original style.

The story takes place in rural Sweden in the mid-1990s. The main character, a headstrong teenage girl named Denise, is convinced that her missing father was abducted by aliens. In search of the truth, she joins the amateur organization UFO-Sverige, and the typical “basement club of weirdos” turns into a team that risks everything for the sake of cosmic secrets. The creators skillfully combined the atmosphere of Scandinavian melancholy with the Hollywood rhythm of adventure, so the film works both as a chamber drama and a dynamic thriller.

In addition to nostalgia, the film attracted attention for its technical breakthrough: “Watch the Skies” will be the first cinema release to use the TrueSync AI service from British company Flawless AI. Smart dubbing technology synchronizes actors’ facial expressions with the translated English text, preserving the original emotions and dialects. The production team calls this an ethical example of the use of AI for mass localization — the film has already been purchased by distributors in more than 100 countries.

Experts note that the combination of Spielberg’s plots, European originality, and innovative AI localization makes “Watch the Skies” one of the most unusual premieres of the year and, at the same time, a possible vector for the entire independent film industry.

The release format is limited theatrical release (primarily the AMC chain in the US and select theaters in Canada, the UK, and Australia). At the same time, the distribution rights have been sold to local distributors in Europe, Latin America, and Asia, so the film will be released in most countries by the end of June.
