The Ukrainian national anthem was played at the European Model Rocket Championship

The National Anthem of Ukraine sounded over Poland’s Kruszyn airfield in honor of our champion’s victory. This is how the second day of the European Championship in Space Models in Włocławek ended. Ukrainians already have three gold medals, as well as silver and bronze awards. Several more days of competition are still ahead.

Competition near Włocławek

The European Championship in Space Models began on August 15 at the Kruszyn airfield. This year it is being held for the 21st time, with representatives of 17 European countries taking part. A total of 17 senior and 12 junior national teams entered the competition.

This sport belongs to the technical disciplines. Participants design their own rocket and rocket glider models and then launch them, competing in flight altitude and duration, accuracy, and landing precision.

The strongest athletes compete at continental and world championships under the auspices of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI). In Ukraine, this field is developed by the Ukrainian Federation of Space Modeling Sports.

First Gold

The first day of competition was successful for our athletes. Awards were won in both the individual and team standings.

In the S8P class among seniors, where rocket gliders are evaluated based on flight duration and landing accuracy, Oleksandr Chekh from Chernihiv took first place. The Ukrainian team in the same category finished third and received bronze medals.

The National Anthem of Ukraine over Kruszyn

The winners and medalists of the opening day were awarded toward the end of the following day. By tradition, the national anthem of the country represented by the athlete who takes first place is played in their honor.

This time, the National Anthem of Ukraine sounded over the airfield. It marked the victory of our champion in the S8P class.

More Starts Ahead

The competition in Włocławek concludes on August 20. Our athletes still have events in other classes ahead, so the number of medals may continue to grow.
