President Donald Trump has once again found himself in the center of attention for his bizarre remarks. This time, he suggested that Boeing Starliner mission astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore may have fallen in love while on the International Space Station (ISS).
“They were left there – I hope they like each other, maybe even love each other. But they were left there. Think about it,” Trump said during a press conference in the Oval Office.
In addition to that, Trump also made a few quirky jokes about Williams’ appearance. “I see the woman with the wild hair. The good, solid head of hair she’s got. There’s no kidding,” the president joked.

This isn’t the first time Williams’ appearance has been a topic of discussion. In November, some commentators said she looked emaciated due to being in weightlessness. The astronaut denied these rumors: “I weigh the same as I did when I arrived on the station,” she explained from aboard the ISS.
Williams has not responded to Trump’s statements yet. But her colleague Wilmore commented on Elon Musk, who previously claimed that SpaceX could have returned the crew to Earth faster if not for the political motivations of the Biden administration.
“Politics has nothing to do with it,” Wilmore noted, ”We have not been given any details regarding possible return options.

On June 5, 2024, Williams and Wilmore headed to the ISS for an eight-day mission. But a malfunction of their Boeing Starliner spacecraft meant the craft was considered too risky to transport humans. That meant the spacecraft returned to Earth empty, and Williams and Wilmore have been on the ISS since then – their eight-day mission turned into a nine-month stay in space.
Preparations are now underway to send astronauts on the Crew-10 “rescue” mission, which will allow Williams and Wilmore to return to Earth on March 16.
