SpaceX proposal

It is believed that after Elon Musk’s company SpaceX finally severed all ties with California, Texas became its main base, from where, in particular, Starship is launched. However, Florida also plays an important role in their plans, and recent reports only confirm this.

This refers to the news that SpaceX will build a large space communications complex near the city of Myakka, Manatee County. The proposal calls for the creation of a fenced-in facility on a 0.73-acre site with 40 satellite antennas, according to construction documents. The site is located just south of Manatee Lake and west of Waterbury Road on County Road 675.

So far, these are only documents, but there is no doubt that SpaceX will be denied. After all, the project envisages attracting $1.8 billion in investments and creating 600 permanent jobs by 2030.

What is the complex for?

Why does SpaceX need such a huge array of antennas pointing at the sky? This is an interesting question, considering that since its founding in 2002, Elon Musk’s company has been content with what it has.

One possible answer is Starlink. There are many satellites designed to transmit information in orbit, and the volume of information is steadily growing. Therefore, it is possible that this will be a high-speed ground terminal.

However, there is another possible explanation. Elon Musk is serious about his plans for Mars. But no one can say for sure whether the US government will cut funding for long-range communication systems. Therefore, it is quite possible that this is his way of playing it safe.
