The work of a Ukrainian high school student has been selected for presentation at one of Europe’s leading aviation and space forums. This autumn, the student will travel to France, where presentations are delivered mainly by researchers with academic degrees. The high school student works on materials for aircraft and spacecraft.
Selection for the Conference
Mykyta Koliesnik, an 11th-grade student at Odesa Lyceum No. 117, works in the fields of aerospace engineering and materials science. His research was accepted for presentation at the 16th EASN International Conference, according to the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council.
The event will take place in Toulouse from October 27 to 30, 2026. It is organized by the European Aeronautics Science Network, EASN, together with the French engineering university ISAE-SUPAERO. The university’s alumni include French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who has worked aboard the International Space Station twice.
Publication on Composites
A separate study by the Odesa student concerns composite materials for aviation. He prepared it as part of the international Lumiere Research Program under the mentorship of a specialist from the Technical University of Munich, TUM.
The paper is expected to be published in the National High School Journal of Science. The department did not specify the exact publication date.
His Own Projects
Outside his studies, the Odesa school student is developing several initiatives. He founded Exores, an international STEM platform that promotes the exact sciences and brings together young researchers from different parts of the world.
Another of his projects is called SOLYSTRUM. It focuses on the mathematical modeling of energy sources and methods of energy transmission for future space missions.
Participation Format
This year’s conference is devoted to innovation in aviation and spaceflight from the perspective of sustainable development. Presentations will be delivered in the form of oral talks and poster sessions.
The program also includes plenary sessions and a separate networking segment for young engineers. The organizers introduced the latter for the first time at the previous conference in Madrid.
