Fireball over the US

On June 26, 2025, at midday, many people saw a fireball fall and explode in the sky above the east coast of the United States. The fall was accompanied by a loud noise. In total, more than 100 reports were received from Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Most of the reports came from the first of the states mentioned. There are also numerous videos on this topic on the internet. It is also reported that a satellite tracking lightning detected a bright streak in the clear sky.

Dylan Lusk, a senior meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, said that although the agency did not yet know what the object was, it definitely created a fireball and sonic boom as it entered Earth’s atmosphere.

“We’ve had a lot of people who are reporting hearing a loud boom and then also feeling shaking, like their home shaking, or their window shaking,” Lask told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “So that was likely a byproduct of whatever this was entering the atmosphere.”

Meteor

Most likely, it was a meteor, and quite a small one. It is possible to assume that this could be some kind of space debris, but this is very doubtful given the power of the explosion. And of course, it is possible to assume that this was caused by extraterrestrials, because no one knows what real extraterrestrials look like.

Overall, there is no reason to doubt the meteorite nature of the phenomenon. However, experts are still unable to say anything about the size of the celestial visitor or where its debris might be found. The object was known to be no more than a few meters in diameter, otherwise the consequences of its fall would have been much more noticeable.
