Mars Express investigates wrinkles on the old “face” of Mars: Video

Thanks to a video taken by the Mars Express spacecraft of the European Space Agency (ESA), viewers have a unique opportunity to explore the most impressive secrets of Mars from a bird’s-eye view. This fascinating video shows us a wrinkled and intriguing Martian valley. Look at the detailed mysterious spaces of the Red Planet, which have remained hidden from our view until now.

This epic video reveals the vast valley system of the Noctis Labyrinthus. The valley stretches for almost 1,190 kilometers and is located between the famous Valles Marineris and the huge volcanic system in the Tharsis region. In this video, you will see the impressive outlines and beauty of this Martian surface, where high plateaus serve as a kind of witness to the initial state of the surface before its transformation.

The images also show giant landslides that cover the slopes and valley floor, as well as large dune fields created by Martian winds. These images were captured thanks to the Mars Express stereo camera with high resolution. This mission allowed scientists not only to study Mars in detail, but also to discover and explore the lowered areas of the crust, known as grabens. Grabens indicate the volcanic past of the Red Planet and intense volcanism in the Tharsis Highlands.

Spacecraft such as Mars Express, together with other space missions, are orbiting Mars to observe the weather and analyze the planet’s complex past. This is information that can shed light on the mysteries of Mars’ past and potential future. Scientists are considering the possibility of the existence of water on the surface of the Red Planet in the past, because a lot of evidence has been found. They indicated that the atmosphere of Mars was once dense, warm and moist enough to hold liquid water on the surface. But today, the consequences of thin air and high radiation make it difficult for life to exist on the surface of Mars. If such organisms exist, they may be hiding underground.

Ground-based missions, such as NASA’s Curiosity and Perseverance rovers, carefully study the Martian landscape up close and help uncover new mysteries of the Red Planet, giving us an incredible opportunity to see this mysterious world. The discovery of the secrets of Mars remains one of the most impressive events in the exploration of space and our neighboring planet.

Earlier, we reported on how NASA spotted the creepy forms of a “spider” in the crater of Mars.
