The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine has released a statement that since September 2022, its capabilities have increased many times thanks to a satellite acquired by the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation. Thanks to it, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed enemy equipment worth billions of dollars.
Satellite is good at its job
The ICEYE satellite, which has been owned by Ukraine since last year, has made it much easier to identify enemy equipment and units and helps plan offensive operations. The Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine told about this in its message.
Satellite in August last year, along with the right to use several similar ICEYE spacecraft, if possible, was acquired by the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation with money donated by people.
The satellite is equipped with a synthetic aperture radar (SAR). Thanks to this, it can receive high-resolution images of the Earth’s surface day and night in all weather conditions. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov once talked about how effectively it allowed to identify hidden enemy equipment.
How does the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine assess the work of the satellite
Now the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has decided to share its impressions of the satellite’s work. The report says that due to the presence of this intelligence apparatus, the effectiveness of their work has increased significantly since September 2022.
“The masking of Russian equipment, warehouses of ammunition equipment and fuel are actually destroyed by the capabilities of the “people’s satellite” — neither the weather nor the time of day are important for working with it. The results are impressive: in six months of using the intelligence obtained thanks to the spacecraft, Ukraine has turned Russian military equipment worth billions of dollars into scrap metal, not to mention the accumulation of enemy (temporarily) manpower, as well as military logistics facilities.
Employees of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine note the special role of the “people’s satellite” for planning and implementing important and highly anticipated military operations and once again express gratitude to all Ukrainians who help with ICEYE,” the intelligence officers said.
