The Aliens franchise is one of the most famous in science fiction. For a long time, no tapes have been released for this franchise. But after Disney’s takeover of the 20th Century Fox film company for USD 71 billion in 2019, there was hope for the continuation of the cult movie. Recently, the trailer for the feature film directed by Fede Alvarez, Alien: Romulus, was released.
Although official announcements from Disney and 20th Century Studios have not yet been released, fans have already created numerous concept trailers. One of them is Romulus, which impresses with the atmosphere and style characteristic of Aliens, developing its cinematic tone and style.
Created by the British company Fox Star Media, this conceptual teaser does not fit into the overall picture a bit, as it uses the old 20th Century Fox logo instead of the newly created 20th Century Studios, which Disney replaced after the merger. Included in the short narrative, we get atmospheric shots of the corridors of the spacecraft, terrible warnings broadcast to the crew, and ominous signs of forced opening of the hatch before a fiery fall to the surface of a planet or moon, perhaps somewhere in the remote Zeta 2 Reticuli system.
Attentive viewers will recognize old familiar footage collected from various science fiction films of the last decade, especially from the underrated “Prometheus” in 2012 and the rambling “Alien: Covenant” in 2017. A nice moment here is the final appearance of a brutal multi-armed monster that transforms into an intimidating height to cool the blood of any inquisitive space explorer embarking on a routine interstellar bug hunt or a relaxing space adventure.
Although the plot of “Alien: Romulus” is still kept under lock and key, we know that its events will take place somewhere between the action of “Alien” (1979) and “Aliens” (1986) and will include new characters who will face a swarm of deadly xenomorphs for the first time.
20th Century Studios announced that the cast of the film includes: Kayleigh Spaeny (Pacific Rim: Uprising), Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight), David Jonsson (Industry), Archie Reno and Spike Fern. There is also good news for fans of the series – Alien: Romulus is due to be released on August 16, 2024. Therefore, it is not so long to wait.
