Chandra revealed a way to turn the Earth into a black hole

NASA devoted the entire last week from May 2 to May 6 to the mysterious and frightening objects of the Universe – Black Holes. During the event, the agency covered their secrets and shared scientific revelations. NASA’s Chandra Observatory joined the event and fantasized a bit about how we can turn the Earth into a black hole. The explanation may amaze you.

Just Contract the Earth

Black holes, as we know them, are extremely dense objects that form after the collapse of a star under the influence of its gravity after its fuel is exhausted. After the collapse, a supernova flare occurs, which sends parts of the star into outer space. And since the collapse causes a strong compression of the star, its gravity becomes so strong that even light cannot leave it. This is how a black hole is born – the most “hungry” object in the Universe, greedily absorbing matter around it.

The same goes for the Earth. Chandra’s scientists have stated that to turn the Earth into a black hole, we would have to contract its entire mass to such an extent that it would become the size of a marble. This contraction will cause the planet to collapse on itself and eventually turn into a black hole.

Another striking fact about black holes is that they can be created from anything that has gravity, provided they can be contracted to the point of collapse. However, black holes are usually created from heavy objects, such as stars, which are many times more massive than the Sun.

Invisible Black Holes

Because black holes don’t let light through, these creepy objects move around the Universe. But they are not visible in any telescope. However, scientists have found a way to view these objects by observing how they affect their environment. Black holes also cause the curvature of space around them. This curvature refracts the light passing around the black hole, which helps scientists confirm their existence.

Recall that earlier scientists managed to record the eerie sound of the echo of a black hole.
