Kushchyovskaya air base

Images of Russia’s Kushchyovskaya air base appeared online after the defenders of Ukraine hit it with drones on April 27. The images were taken by a satellite of Planet Labs, and published on the page on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, by OSINT analyst Brady Africk.

The first photo is dated March 19th. Thanks to it, you can make sure that this is the very air base that was hit and that it is actively used by the Russians to carry out bombing of Ukraine.

In the second picture, which was taken on April 28, you can see the marks of the hits. Fragments of the destroyed equipment are not visible on them, but traces of burning are clearly visible. Brady Africk assures that many guided aerial bombs were destroyed in this place.

Hitting deep into enemy territory

Kushchyovskaya air base is located far enough from the front line. The distance to it from any point from where the Security Service of Ukraine could freely launch a drone exceeds 200 km. However, reports that it was hit appeared on the morning of April 27. According to the information of the Ukrainian special services and the media, there were dozens of military aircraft, radar stations and a lot of personnel there.

At the same time, it became known about explosions on the territory of the Slavyansk and Ilsky oil refineries. Recently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine have been striking deeper and deeper into the territory of Russia. They are gradually becoming common.

At the same time, many questions arise about how they are carried out deep in enemy territory. After all, the range of small drones is clearly not enough to cover hundreds of kilometers. Therefore, either large-sized devices or sabotage groups are used for this purpose, which go deep into the territory of Russia and hit targets from a distance of several kilometers.
