A new image of the solar eclipse taken by the Blue Ghost spacecraft from the surface of the Moon has been published. It shows the “diamond ring,” a phenomenon where the Sun peeks out from behind our planet and illuminates the edges of its entire disk.

New image
Firefly Aerospace has released a new video of the solar eclipse. It shows the Sun hiding behind the Earth, illuminating it in such a way that our planet seems to be surrounded by a diamond ring. The photo was obtained by the Blue Ghost spacecraft, which is now on the surface of our moon.
The image obtained from Blue Ghost was already published today by Firefly Aerospace. It shows the moment of the beginning of the eclipse. Therefore, the image doesn’t look as pretty. The significantly later phase is recorded here and the diamond ring turns out to be really incredible.
Expect more images!
In general Blue Ghost is expected to transmit a large number of images of this rather unique phenomenon. Now it needs to get power and operations of all systems back up after being in the shadows.
In general, it is worth recalling that it was impossible to observe the solar eclipse from Earth. Because it was actually our planet that ended up between the Moon and the Sun, not the other way around.
