The European Space Agency (ESA) has published a series of images of the head fairing of the Ariane 5 rocket, which will send the JUICE mission to Jupiter. On it you can see a drawing created by 9-year-old Yaryna Zakaliuzna from Zhytomyr.
Yaryna’s drawing won the Juice up your rocket contest organized in 2021! It was attended by 2,600 works sent by children from 63 countries of the world. As a result, the jury gave preference to the drawing of a young Zhytomyr girl.
The drawing that decorated the Ariane 5 rocket shows the Earth transmitting the JUICE device to Jupiter. In addition, three moons of the planet are drawn on it, demonstrating different emotions from this meeting: one was scared, another was surprised, and the third fell asleep altogether.
JUICE Launch Date
The ballistic window for launching JUICE will be open from April 14 to April 30, 2023. It will be the last spacecraft launched using the Ariane 5 rocket.
The main objective of the JUICE mission is the three largest icy moons of Jupiter — Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. According to scientists, oceans of liquid water are hiding under their surface. JUICE should study these worlds and assess their potential liveability.
JUICE will take eight years to reach its goal. The spacecraft will enter a permanent orbit around Jupiter in the summer of 2031.
