Maxar has published a series of images taken by its satellites. They show some of the most significant conflicts and disasters of 2023.
The war in Ukraine
Many of Maxar‘s images depict the battlefields in Ukraine. The first photo was taken on January 10, 2023, and shows the destroyed city of Soledar.
The second image was taken on June 1, 2023. It shows Russian fortifications in Zaporizhzhia region.
The third photo was taken in late summer. It shows a Tu-95 bomber with tires attached to it. Presumably, this was done to protect it from strikes by Ukrainian drones.
Geopolitical events
But Maxar satellites have captured other conflicts as well. The following image was acquired on April 17, 2023. It shows burned airplanes at Khartoum airport.
A picture dated November 17, 2023 shows a crowd of people trying to leave the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
Another photo shows a military parade in Pyongyang.
Maxar satellites also showed the process of Vietnam’s construction of an artificial island in the South China Sea. This is part of a strategy to combat China’s militarization of the region. The images were taken from 2021 to 2023.
