Ukrainians are invited to participate in an international hackathon organized by NASA

On November 14–15, the NASA Space Apps Challenge will take place—the largest international space-themed hackathon, held under NASA’s auspices since 2012. In Ukraine, the NGO “Association Noosphere” is organizing the local NASA Space Apps Challenge Dnipro event for the tenth time.

Over 48 hours, participants will work in teams on one of 14 challenges. This year’s challenges cover a wide range of topics, from Earth exploration to future missions to the Moon and Mars. The 2026 hackathon theme, The Next Explorer, reflects this idea. Participants can, for example, create software to monitor astronauts’ health, develop an app to track changes on Earth’s surface, build an interactive game about space missions, or even turn NASA’s Earth data into sound. There are plenty of options, and participants can choose a challenge that matches their knowledge and interests.

Everyone interested in science, technology, and space is welcome to participate: students from any field of study, analysts, programmers, designers, writers, makers, engineers, developers, biologists, musicians, artists, and others.

The hackathon will take place on November 14–15 in both online and in-person formats. Participants can join online from any city or country, or work in person at Noosphere Engineering School laboratories in Kyiv, Dnipro, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Rivne, or Chernivtsi.

During the hackathon, teams will be able to consult mentors from various fields, and a local jury will evaluate the completed projects. The best teams will receive gifts from the organizers and an opportunity to advance to the global judging stage of the NASA Space Apps Challenge.
