On 19 April, Netflix will premiere the film “Rebel Moon: The Scargi”er”, the second part of Zack Snyder’s fantastic film dilogy. Here’s everything you need to know about the film.
What the first film was about
The first part of ‘Rebel Moon’ told the story of a peaceful colony where a warship led by the ruthless Admiral Noble arrived. He demanded that the locals hand over all their grain, which brought them to the brink of starvation. To defend the settlement, farmer Gunnar joined forces with a mysterious woman named Kora and travelled across the universe to gather a team of defenders.

Who starred in “Rebel Moon”
Sofia Boutella (“The Mummy”, “The Kingman”), Charlie Hunnam (“Pacific Rim”, “Gentlemen”), Djimon González (“Gladiator”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”), Ed Skrein (“Deadpool”) and Michiel Houseman (“Game of Thrones”) star roles in “Rebel Moon”. Two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins provided the voice acting for robot Jimmy.
How the first “Rebel Moon” was received
The first part of “Rebel Moon” was included in the top ten most popular Netflix releases for 2023. It was watched almost 24 million times in the first three days. As for the reviews, critics have been rather lukewarm about the film. The film currently has a 21% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Ordinary viewers received the film somewhat better, although it still cannot boast of any particularly high ratings on film websites. The main complaints about “Rebel Moon” were related to its script, which was not particularly original and was a compilation of plot elements from such films as “Star Wars” and “Seven Samurai”. On the plus side, Snyder’s films were mostly praised for their visuals and action scenes.
What the second part will be about
The second part of “Rebel Moon” will be dedicated to the battle between the rebel group and the army of the galactic empire. Judging by the trailer, the main focus will be on even bigger action scenes, in which each of the characters will be able to show their abilities in the fight against the forces of evil.
When to expect the director’s cut of “Rebel Moon”
The first part of ‘Rebel Moon’ was released on Netflix with a PG-13 rating. Even before the film’s premiere, Zack Snyder promised to release the director’s cut with an R-rating later. Initially, it was supposed to be released at the same time as the sequel, but later it was announced that it would be released in mid-2024. It is not yet known whether the second part of Rebel Moon will have the director’s cut.
