The Great American Solar Eclipse: Best photos

On April 8, millions of North Americans saw a grandiose celestial show: a total solar eclipse, which has already been called the great one. The editors of The Universe Space Tech have compiled a selection of the best images and recordings of the eclipse, taken both on Earth and in space.

Phases of the eclipse

Many photographers focused on capturing all phases of the eclipse, and then making collages showing how the view of the Sun in the sky changed. Here are some of these photos.

But you can also find a lot of pictures of individual phases on the web. This is what the partially closed Sun looks like.

Solar eclipse on the background of attractions

Other photographers made a bet on capturing the eclipse against the background of various attractions. This is what it looks like in New York.

And in this picture, the moment of the total phase was captured over a frozen lake in Quebec.

Solar eclipse and aircraft

In some images, the solar eclipse is adjacent to the planes. The Red Bull company organized an advertising campaign when two planes with its logos flew against the background of the closed Sun.

And some observers were just lucky enough to capture the moment of the flight of a passenger liner against the background of the eclipse.

Solar eclipse: View from space

The Great American eclipse was captured not only from Earth, but also from space. This is how the GOESEast satellite saw it.

And this recording was made by one of the SpaceX satellites.
