Elon Musk doesn’t seem to be worried about the negative environmental impacts caused by his SpaceX starbase in Texas. Recently, an investigation by The New York Times revealed how Musk built the facility in a not-so-honest manner, bypassing all environmental regulations.
In response to The New York Times article, Musk published a post containing a blurry screenshot of the newspaper article and a joke text, mocking the publication’s criticism of the environmental situation regarding SpaceX. The memo negatively reviewed an article about SpaceX that came out earlier in the week.
The New York Times material was the result of a months-long investigation that revealed Musk used deception and bribery to build a space base in Boca Chica, Texas, inside a federal wildlife refuge. The article also mentions a less significant detail: a recent Starship launch destroyed nine bird nests near the facility.
“To make up for this heinous crime, I will refrain from having omelette for a week,” Musk joked in his post with a screenshot.

This low-brow joke and low-resolution screenshot highlights how the billionaire feels about investigations into his alleged wrongdoing and the federal laws he is alleged to have broken.
The publication’s reporters found that Musk was able to easily fool the federal government into believing he would test less powerful Falcon 9 rockets based on Starbase instead of Starship, which are much larger and more environmentally dangerous.
Musk chose to celebrate his “victory” by publishing lowbrow publications ridiculing his political opponents, even though he used to share their views before he decided to change his position.
