From a movie premiere standpoint, autumn is traditionally a time of smaller movies than summer or Christmas. But the editors of Universe Space Tech have found a few feature movies, animations, and documentaries that may interest space enthusiasts anyway.
Meanwhile on Earth
What’s the movie about?
Elsa has always been very close to her older brother Frank, an astronaut who disappeared three years ago during a space mission. One day, she is contacted from space by an unknown life form that claims it can bring her brother back to Earth.
What makes the movie interesting?
Meanwhile on Earth is the second feature film from French director Jeremy Clapin. His previous creation was the animated movie I Lost My Body, which received good reviews from both critics and audiences and was nominated for an Academy Award.
Critics who have already seen “Meanwhile on Earth” note that the movie is a poetic and surreal meditation on the ways in which humans try to cope with grief. Especially strongly they praise the musical accompaniment of the picture, as well as animated inserts. The movie will be released in the U.S. on September 13, 2024.
Transformers One
What’s the movie about?
The action of this animated picture is set on the planet Cybertron, which is home to the Transformers. The plot centers on the story of Optimus Prime and Megatron going from brothers-in-arms to sworn enemies.
What makes the movie interesting?
Hollywood has already released six feature-length movies about the Autobots and Decepticons since 2007. And if the first pictures about Transformers became hits, the last parts showed a significant drop in viewer interest.
As is common in these situations, the studio made the decision to go back to the series’ roots. Transformers One will be the franchise’s first animated movie since 1986. It will also be the first movie in many years where there are no humans among the heroes — only Transformers.
The visual effects for Transformers One were created by the illustrious ILM. According to the creators, the design of the Transformers was heavily influenced by the design of the original 1980s animated series. The main roles were voiced by Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Jon Hamm and Laurence Fishburne. The animated film will be released on September 20, 2024.
Venom: The Last Dance
What’s the movie about?
Eddie Brock and the symbiote Venom go on the run. They are hunted by members of both worlds. Therefore, the duo is forced to make a risky decision that could bring down the curtain over their last dance.
What makes the movie interesting?
When describing the Venom movies, many movie enthusiasts use the term guilty pleasure quite often. It is used in relation to pictures that can not boast any special artistic merit or logical plot, but watching them still gives a kind of pleasure.
And “Venom” actually fits that definition pretty well. There are not many people who, with a pure heart, would call it a modern classic and put it among the best comic book adaptations. But the alien symbiote movies do a pretty good job of entertaining. And mostly Tom Hardy, whose charisma is able to improve a far from slender story, is to be thanked for that.
So, we have a right to expect the threequel to continue that tradition. It is hardly a masterpiece waiting for us, but most likely the movie will not be boring to watch. The world premiere of the third “Venom” will take place on October 24, 2024.
Apollo 13: Survival
What’s the movie about?
Documentary focusing on the iconic space story. In April 1970, NASA faced its greatest crisis ever: three astronauts were halfway to the Moon on the Apollo 13 spacecraft when it exploded.
What makes the movie interesting?
The Apollo 13 mission is often called NASA’s glorious failure. Yes, three astronauts failed to reach the Moon. But NASA was able to do what seemed impossible at the time and return the spacecraft’s crew safely back to Earth.
Certainly, the story of Meanwhile on Earth flight is already the subject of an excellent 1995 movie starring Tom Hanks (if you haven’t seen it, it’s a good time to change this). But nevertheless, it was an art movie, which had some simplifications and digressions. But Apollo 13: Survival is a documentary movie, including real footage and interviews with eyewitnesses, providing an opportunity to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of those events and see their direct participants. The movie will be released on Netflix as early as September 5.
