Bill Nelson’s concerned

On October 25, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson spoke at the Semafor World Economic Summit. During a conversation with journalists, he almost for the first time commented on the situation regarding Elon Musk and Russia, expressing his concern.

The information that the main space businessman of the planet during the last two years repeatedly communicated with the Russian dictator Putin appeared some time ago. It was published by the Wall Street Journal, citing multiple confirmations from U.S., European and Russian officials.

Among other things, it is reported that Putin allegedly asked Musk not to turn on Starlink over Taiwan. It is stated that in this way, the Russian dictator was trying to become an ally of China and strengthen its position in the international arena.

Starlink for Taiwan is indeed still not working and there is no talk about it. However, whether the conversations between the billionaire and the russian president really played an important role in this, no one can say for sure.

NASA and Elon Musk

One can laugh at Nelson’s concern about Musk’s contacts with the leadership of the aggressor country. Or cry over the fact that this is the most serious criticism of a businessman by NASA. However, we need to really assess the situation.

For Nelson and his staff, Elon Musk is first and foremost the owner of SpaceX, the company that NASA has entrusted to take its astronauts into orbit. So they have to be careful what they say.

Therefore, saying that Musk’s conversations with Putin should worry NASA, the US Department of Defense and intelligence agencies can already be seen as very bold. And in general, Nelson is glad he rarely has to interact with the billionaire.

Gwynne Shotwell is getting more and more involved with SpaceX. The Head of NASA calls her fantastic and is very pleased with the result of the cooperation. He tries to ignore her boss’s position. Meanwhile, Elon Musk has been openly criticizing the Biden administration, of which Nelson is a representative. He recently declared his support for Donald Trump in the election altogether.
