Documentary about private space

According to a post on Linkedin by American journalist Ashlee Vance, the Wild Wild Space series airs today on HBO and Max. Vance is co-writing its script. To be more precise, the new show is based on his books.

The movie Wild Wild Space is a documentary. It tells how private companies have changed the rules of space exploration. In fact, they re-created the rocket and satellite industry, which had previously been concentrated in the hands of national governments and industrial giants close to them.

The movie will premiere today at 9pm. It’s going to be a deep night in Ukraine as we approach morning. However, the premiere is worth watching.

Is space really so wild?

The title of the series is a reference to the 1999 steampunk movie Wild, Wild West. And when Ashlee Vance compares modern private space to the American “wild west,” he knows what he’s talking about.

Just two decades ago, a field that had previously been closed to casuals became accessible to ordinary businessmen, from IT specialists to manufacturers of exclusive motorcycles and yachts. Real freedom in the conquest of outer space. Minimal rules of the game and free choice of strategy to achieve success.

And all of this Ashlee Vance observed while working among them as a journalist. He covered their work from an angle from which they would not have shown it in their press releases. And now you can learn all their secrets if you watch this movie.
