The meteor shower got its name from the constellation Boötes, in which its radiant is located. It is active from June 22 to July 2, and is usually very weak, with a ZHR of only 2-8. But from time to time, this meteor shower shows bursts of activity, the last of which, with a ZHR of 90 to 100, was observed in 1998.
